Some Sobering Thoughts About The Upcoming Elections: Sometimes Failure Is Not An Option!
Topics: Political News and commentaries
"I failed...but I tried...at least I tried"Those words from ex-President Clinton, spat at Chris Wallace during Clinton's now infamous interview on Fox News Sunday, by a shrill, defensive, Clinton, makes me shudder!
They embody a "world view," a "philosophy," a way of thinking and dealing with the threats facing us, that are not only Clinton's, but representative of how most Democrats look at things in our deeply divided country!
In this "Clintonian Democratic world view," terrorism is the criminal act of certain individuals, who ought to be captured and brought to justice to stand trial for their actions in a Court of Law with all the attendant civil rights and legal representation of any American citizen , and is basically but an international Law Enforcement problem, to be solved through Law Enforcement means, and not through pre-emptive military action. Their way of dealing with the Islamist terrorist threat is what Fjordman refers to as "an ideological sickness of the West" which could be called "Egalitarianism, of which Multiculturalism, but also radical Feminism and sometimes economic Marxism, is a part":
In the old days, people used to talk about "death before dishonor." In our age, this has become "death before discrimination." Westerners would rather get killed by Islamic terrorists than do profiling of Muslims, because this would be "racism," which has thus quite literally become a mortal sin, perhaps the only sin left in a world where there is no good or bad and everything is permissible and "equal."So, is it really "more important not to discriminate against people based on their race than to keep the occasional terrorist from getting on a plane"? If this isn't a symptom of a rather curious and sick blend of Egalitarianism, Multiculturalism, radical Feminism, and economic Marxism - run completely amuck, what is? Bjørn Stærk's definition of "being brave" is nothing other than "being dead." It is what Fjordman calls, "Death Before Discrimination."The ideological sickness of the West could be called Egalitarianism, of which Multiculturalism, but also radical Feminism and sometimes economic Marxism, is a part. Everybody should be equal, not just before the law, but their choices should be equally valid. If they have not achieved exactly the same level as everybody else, this
constitutes "discrimination" and requires state intervention to correct. The scary thing is, Egalitarianism is not just limited to the political Left anymore, it has made inroads into what used to be the political Right, too.
Bjørn Stærk is the Grand Old Man of Norwegian blogging, and still one of the most famous bloggers in Norway. He's also considered a right-winger by local standards, and definitely not a Socialist. He writes:
[Being] brave is sitting down calmly on a plane behind a row of suspicious-looking Arabs, ignoring your own fears, because you know those fears are irrational, and because even if there's a chance that they are terrorists, it is more important to you to preserve an open and tolerant society than to survive this trip. [Being] brave is insisting that Arabs not be searched more carefully in airport security than anyone else, because you believe that it is more important not to discriminate against people based on their race than to keep the occasional terrorist from getting on a plane.
So are we to buy-in to Staerk's and the Clintonian crowd's "Death Before Discrimination"? Not me, not for my wife, not my child, not my loved ones and friends!!!
In other words, in the Clintonian Democratic world view, "brave" is sticking our heads in the sand and pretending it will all go away, while the Jihadists go unimpeded in their campaign of violence, slaughter, and suicidal mass murder all around us. As an Assistant Director for the group Human Rights Watch recently asserted, they are willing to protect the "civil liberties" of such terrorists, even if it means that it will impede our being able to thwart a plot which will then result in the deaths of thousands of innocent people.
In their multiculturalist, secular, way of looking at the world, the fact that a rift with an entire culture mired within a barbaric tribal 10th century mentality, which has an ingrained cultural propensity for such violence, intolerance, and repression, simply escapes them!
The war in Afghanistan is ok in their eyes, to a point, but the war in Iraq is in their view unequivocally a "war of choice." To them there is no such thing as "Global Jihad," it's all about "grievances" and "local conflicts," though paradoxically they are vehement about granting any "Jihadist" thug in street clothes we capture, "Geneva Convention rights" as an enemy combatant of such a Global Jihad as doesn't exist in their eyes!
Their concern for the Jihadists is such, that due to Islamic dietary exigencies, we have to feed the detainees in Guantanamo better food than we feed our own soldiers! They are so concerned that the rights of these barbaric murderers be safeguarded, that 3/4 of all Democratic Senators voted against the Bill recently passed in the Senate that establishes the Military Tribunals and establishes the guidelines on coercive interrogation to deal with these savages! They are so jealous of safeguarding the "privacy" of these Jihadists, which enables them to carry out their heinous terrorist plots undetected, that they wish to Impeach President Bush for ordering the NSA to listen-in on their conversations without warrants! Ironically, listening in on such conversations by the NSA is what tipped authorities here and in Britain to the plot recently thwarted to blow up 10 airliners in mid air over the Atlantic! In their Law Enforcement mentality approach to this threat, they would wait until the terrorists have carried out their plot, and then go after any surviving Jihadists involved, just as police would in any other crime case...while the bodies of the innocent pile up!!!
In their warped world-view these Democrats, if they were ever to regain a majority in the House or the Senate come November, would quickly do as much to dismantle and disable the Patriot Act, about which Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid gloated before the cameras once before: "We have killed the Patriot Act!"; the NSA Surveillance Program, for which they will more than likely go on and try to impeach President Bush on; suspend all coercive interrogations, though it may severely hinder our ability to prevent further terrorist attacks; close Guantanamo, freeing many of its terrorist detainees held there to go and fight us again elsewhere; as they did rabidly fighting the implementation of such measures! A Democratic majority would be so focused on trying to pursue the Impeachment of President Bush, as they have promised, and in dismantling all that has been enacted to help us fight the War of Terror, that they will be as "distracted" as Clinton was by all his scandals and the Monica Lewinski affair to deal with Osama Bin Laden effectively, which then resulted in the over 2900 deaths of innocent men, women, and children on 9/11!!!
And hearing Clinton's shrill excuse for one of his most consequential failures, that of capturing Osama Bin Laden when he had him in the cross-hairs, again, makes me shudder, because with such a "mentality" what is it the Democrats in power would tell us if as a result of their lack of vigilance, and the dismantling of all the programs that safeguard us for the sake of their theoretical civil liberties and other legalistic nuances - due to their world-view, one of our cities would lie in the ruins of a Nuclear Holocaust, utterly destroyed, with millions of casualties, the resulting radiation and pestilence poisoning the rest of the country, and our economy, our Republic, and our very way of life in shambles, as a result of a terrorist attack?!?! Are the Democrats then just going to tell us, as Clinton did: "We failed...but we tried...at least we tried" ?!?!
There are times when failure is not an option, and that it is simply a case of do or die!!!
We should all take all this into very serious consideration... before casting our votes in November!!!
