Foley Lawyer Cites Alcohol, Childhood Abuse

Topics: Political News and commentaries

Disgraced former lawmaker Mark Foley, through the mouthpiece of his attorney, says his behavior was affected by alcoholism and childhood molestation but he "never attempted to have sexual contact with a minor."

This really ticks me off! Count me as one of the Conservatives that say alcoholism and childhood molestation, or any other excuse a politician uses for sleezy behavior, is nothing more than a cop-out. He'll get no sympathy from me.

As for going into a rehab center, essentially running away and hiding while leaving a mess behind for members of his party and Congress in general to clean up, that's no way for a responsible adult to handle the situation.

Even worse, does he think saying he is a "gay man" is suppose to give him some excuse for whatever damage he caused to the youth he "interacted" with?

Put this bastard in prison if he's done something illegal. If he hasn't done anything illegal, send the "gay man" to the trash heap of history, and let's get on with the issues that determine whether or not we have a country left to argue political agendas over. We need to be dealing with national security, defense, immigration, and terrorism - the Dems, as usual, are doing nothing more than diverting attention from the fact that they have no credible and practical plan to deal with any of these matters. If so, let them tell us what it is.
