Burkas In Florida?

I live in Securelocationville, near the Gulf coast of Florida. Prior to 9/11 the words "Islam" or "Muslim" entered my mind perhaps once every five to ten years. Now I have several Muslim friends, although you wouldn't know they were Muslim unless you asked them. Most of them are from Afghanistan, Pakistan, France, or Morocco, but all have assimilated into the mainstream of our community. Some are physicians, some are teachers at the university, others either have businesses or work for companies located in the community. However, all of them dress like other ordinary Americans living in an American community. So for both me and my family, Muslims are, for the most part, just like us. You can imagine my wife's angst, given the association of burkas with radical Islam, to see a man in a white robe and a turbin of sorts, along with his wife and kids - who wore blue burkas - at the local Target store. Later, on the next day, she saw a different man dressed the same way with his women dressed in blue burka outfits. Both times the women actually had only slits to see out of.

My wife said her first thoughts were what is it about these people that they refuse to assimilate in American society and what about these kids - how are they to "fit-in" when their parents have them wear blue bed sheets covering their entire body?

Her next thought was that they reminded her of this humorous video making fun of burkas, that she had seen on Hyscience back in July. The video was actually a big hit in Europe awhile back, and once you get passed the announcer, the music's actually a catchy tune (My mother wears a burka, my father wears it too ...):

Why would these nutcase religious fanatics wear burkas in Florida, or anywhere else in the U.S.? It's not like its about to become the latest fashion, or that people aren't either laughing their asses off at them or shaking their heads in disgust. Woops - answered my own question - these nutcases are religious fanatics, they are radical islamists, and need to go the hell back to whatever country they came from. America isn't Europe. They need to assimilate and become Americans with the rest of us, or leave.

BTW, is it legal to walk around covered up in a blue bedsheet?
