Hugo Chávez Creates "Urban Civilian Militia" Which Answers Not To the Venezuelan High Command, But Only To Him!
Topics: Latin AmericaOn CNN yesterday, a reporter visited the slums on the outskirts of Caracas, a stronghold of, as the reporter called them: "dirt-poor Chávez supporters", where Cuban styled "Comites de Defensa Revolucionaria" - "Committees for the Defense of the Revolution" have been set up on every city block by Chávez, to prepare for a "Yankee invasion."
The reporter interviewed one of the leaders of such Revolutionary Committees, a man wearing a red bandana and a Ché Guevara T-shirt, such as those worn by many of the illegal aliens protesting in the recent pro-illegal immigration protests and rallies here, in the streets of our own cities.
This Ché Guevara T-shirt wearing local leader, then proceeded to give the CNN reporter a tour of the run-down, ramshackle allies of the slums under his "Popular Resistance" supervision, where he enthusiastically showed the reporter, where they are planning to bury IEDs to blow up incoming American tanks and armored vehicles, and the allies were they plan to ambush American soldiers, all in a manner eerily reminiscent of the insurgency in Iraq, adding that they, the Chávez supporters, are all willing to die fighting, every single one, to the last man, woman, and child, in the face of an American invasion! Talk about paranoia!!!
To this must also be added, Chávez 's repeated threats, that in case of an American intervention, he will blow up all of Venezuela's oil wells, so that they will not fall in the hands of the "hated American Imperialists," just as Saddam did!!!
Just as with the Al Saddr Shi'ite militias in the "Al Saddr City" slums in Baghdad, which answer only to Shi'ite cleric Muqtada Al Saddr, these militias in the slums of Caracas will only answer to Hugo Chávez himself, and will be under his personal direct control!!!
Samuel Logan, of the International Relations and Security Network, has more on this in his piece "Invasion or Civil War for Venezuela" with some chilling revelations and perspectives, quote:
"For years, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has claimed to be protecting his people from the corrupt and greedy Venezuelan elite class, represented by the Venezuelan political opposition. Now he is protecting them from an external foe, the US, which he has accused of intending to invade Venezuela. Riding on the rhetoric of an eventual US invasion, Chavez is building up a massive civilian militia answerable directly, and only, to him. That militia, however, is more likely intended to deter a military coup than a US invasion."
"After the 2002 attempt to overthrow his government, Chavez changed tactics, taking on a larger role as protector of his people from the US. As such, he must continue to claim that the US will someday invade Venezuela and that they only thing that will keep the Yankees at bay is two million trained civilians."
"The formation of a civilian militia gives physical presence and weight to Chavez's rhetoric that the US will one day invade. Considering the many rumors of a palace coup and the shuffling of military commanders in Chavez's top brass, however, the formation of a civilian militia looks more like another bulwark intended to protect himself against a military-led coup d'etat."
"The only conventional army likely to threaten Chavez is Venezuela's own military forces, the FAN. In the event of a successful FAN-orchestrated coup, two million hardcore supporters with military training could be ordered to drag the country into a civil war. Given the world's dependence on Venezuelan oil, such a possibility would have serious international repercussions."
Chavez-controlled Militia:
"The first week of March saw the beginning of a two million-strong reservists' program, which Chavez has been talking about for years and officially announced on 14 April last year."
"Lieutenant Colonel Antonio Benavides is in charge of training the instructors, who will in turn train the reservists. He has emphasized the art of guerrilla warfare. In an interview with the BBC, Benavides lined up a group of civilians to demonstrate the art of surprise in guerrilla warfare. "On the surface they look like ordinary people on the street. But if you look underneath their jackets, you will see they are hiding knives, catapults, and pistols," the BBC quoted him as saying to an audience at the training grounds."
"Taking lessons from the Viet Cong and the Cuban Revolution, Benavides will train officers to teach a volunteer militia how to conduct urban guerrilla warfare. The civilian militia adheres to the doctrine of asymmetrical warfare."
"Harnessing a large force of militarily trained civilians to a doctrine of guerrilla warfare has many of Venezuela's older generals confused because it is a doctrine not espoused by the FAN, nor is it a doctrine Chavez himself was trained when rising through the ranks of the Venezuelan military."
"In training and military doctrine, the civilian militia will be completely separate from Venezuela's traditional military rank and file. Additionally, the militia is not part of the traditional chain of command. Its leaders report directly to Chavez and no one else."

Such war-mongering, and such paranoia, coupled with his recent outrageous comments at the United Nations, should serve as a warning to all those misguided, cut-and -run pacifists in America, who would hold hands and sing "cumbaya" with this egomaniacal, Castro wanna-be, tin-pot dictator, that though the United States may not have any desire of waging war on Hugo Chávez , Hugo Chávez is intent on waging war on us, and that no amount of "appeasement" on our part, will counter the deranged Marxist rhetoric in which this rabid, resented, half-breed so fervently believes!
Given his alliances to North Korea, Ahmadinejad, Hezbollah, Hamas, and every Rogue Regime, and or terrorist organization in the world, and the willingness of his fanatical followers of engaging in similar tactics as those used by Al Qaeda and the insurgents in Iraq, even to the point of sending their women and children to fight us, and even the possibility of suicidal attacks by the more fanaticized, America should take the threat this madman poses far more seriously!!!
Chávez's being presently the ipso facto owner of Venezuela, and the CITGO oil company in turn being owned by the State owned "Petroleos de Venezuela," that makes ,Chávez for all intents and purposes, the actual owner of CITGO !!!
American consumers should take notice, and stop financing this despot's increasingly belligerent intentions, all his Marxist mayhem and subversion, and the mounting threat that he and his government pose to our national security in the Hemisphere, and boycott CITGO!
As another blogger commented: "We may be forced to buy the gas, but at least we can choose where to buy it." I strongly concur!
