Does AP stand for Al-Qaeda Propaganda?

Topics: Follies of the Mainstream Media

Jules Crittenden writes at BostonHerald.com that the Associated Press is no longer tthe reliable just-the-facts news agency we once knew; it no longer exists - amoral propagandists have taken over. And it's not just the disturbing matter of Bilal Hussein, AP photograher and al-Qaeda associate, being held without charge in U.S. custody in Iraq that this is evident.

"The military said Hussein was captured with two insurgents, including Hamid Hamad Motib, an alleged leader of al-Qaida in Iraq. 'He has close relationships with persons known to be responsible for kidnappings, smuggling, improvised explosive device (IED) attacks and other attacks on coalition forces,' according to a May 7 e-mail from U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Jack Gardner, who oversees all coalition detainees in Iraq."
But also in the departure from balanced, nonpartisan coverage that has always been the AP's promise to us, its customers.

After reading his piece, you'll wonder, as does Crittenden, just who does the AP want to win this war.

Others that are also dismayed by the AP"'s support of the terrorists include:
Michelle Malkin calls the AP the "Associated (with terror) Press", and when it comes to the "people's right to know" whether Associated Press employees are cooperating with terrorists overseas, the "essential global news network's" motto is: Bug off.

An Associated (with terrorists) Press journalist gets caught with an alleged al Qaeda leader and tests positive for bomb-making materials. That. Is. News. How does a news organization explain away its decision to sit on it for five months? Like this: "The AP has worked quietly until now, believing that would be the best approach."

The best approach to journalism? No. The best approach to suppressing a damning connection to terrorists.
