About Those Interogation Techniques

Topics: War on Terror

The al-Guardian headlines with, "Revealed: the tough interrogation techniques the CIA wants to use," as though they're revealing some evil, dastardly techniques that the CIA wishes to use on those "alleged" terrorists caught in one stage or another of either planning or executing a plan to kill as many innocent human beings as possible, or just simply executing one of their hapless kidnap victims - literally, by chopping off his or her head.

So what are these techniques the al-Guardian is referring to and those sanctimonious jackasses - Senators McCain, Graham, and Warner are screaming about?

Sleep deprivation
Loud Sounds and Bright Lights
Open Handed Slaps that do not physically damage a subject
Grabbing a suspect's Shirt
Discomfort from prolonged standing
Hypothermia
Oh, yes, there is another one - so horrible that I almost dare not mention it: Forcing the "suspected/alleged/etc." terrorist to "Red Hot Chili Peppers music." Now, I do have to admit that this may be just a little over the line - too terrible and gruesome to be used on those sensitive, loving, peaceful, spiritual Muslim extremists.

Come on, are you kidding me? I had worse than that all of these put together in Marine boot camp at Paris Island. Our own special ops troops go through far worse than these, just as a warm-up to deployment. Juxtapose these techniques with the Islamists' beheadings, disembowelments, severed limbs, plucked out eyes and cut off private parts, and the CIA is suppose to worry about how its interogation techniques will be perceived in the international community? Has the world's basic sense of proportionality completely gone awry?

John, at Capitalism Matters experienced more than half of these in the last argument he had with his wife, as have I ! As for the hypothermia, what married man doesn't experience that several times a month? Prolonged standing? Try the airport security line!

There's way too much to do about nothing going on about these interogation techniques. Hold ourselves to a higher standard? We already do, and way too much if we are to win this damned war thrust upon us by the Islamists and their sponsors.
