'Where Is the Nelson Mandela of the Islamic World?'

In the way of an introduction, here's a take-home message for Western liberals and their knee-jerk media from the Der Spiegel piece we discuss here:
This myth has seeped into the framework of the debate within the West on how we can stop radical Islam. "Why do they hate us?" people ask and the answers given are as wild as the question. They hate us because we aren't them, whereas we hate them because they want to kill us. - SourceIn an interview in Der Spiegel, terrorism analyst M.J. Gohel talks about about the effectiveness of security measures, the creation of new terrorists and how the West can win the ideological battle. He also debunks several popular myths perpetuated by the Islamists, their state-owned media, and the complicit Western liberal media:
SPIEGEL ONLINE: In the Islamic world, there is a perception that the West is waging war on Islam -- and it's a perception that has only made it easier to recruit terrorists. Isn't the West partially to blame for the increase in terrorism?Read it all...Gohel: The perception of Islam versus the West has been orchestrated by Islamic countries at many different levels -- leaders of Islamic governments, the (often state-controlled) media, religious leaders and organizations. They have all tried to create the myth that the West is somehow out to persecute the Islamic world. The reality is that Western society today is incredibly tolerant at every possible level. People forget that the terrorist attacks in the US took place before the war in Afghanistan and before the war in Iraq.
As for the answer to Gohel's question, "Where is the Nelson Mandela of the Islamic World," he may not have been born yet. Meanwhile, too many moderate Muslims are afraid to speak out, and apparently none are willing to reign-in the radical clerics and shut down the Saudi-funded terrorist-fueling Wahabbist mosques (about 80% of the mosques in the U.S).
