Relearning Lessons in the War on Terror

Topics: War on Terror

What old lessons are we in the West finding ourselves having to relearn from the recent Israel-Hezbollah war in southern Lebanon to the jihadists in Iraq's Sunni Triangle to the repeated efforts by Islamists across the globe to trump Sept. 11?

Victor Davis Hanson answers that question in his RCP piece today, and reminds us that unless we in the West adapt more quickly than do the canny Islamic terrorists in this constantly evolving war, cease our internecine fighting and stop forgetting what we've learned about our enemies - there will be disasters to come far worse than Sept. 11.

The simple truth is that we will loose this war on terror if we don't stop putting more effort into fighting among ourselves than we do fighting the enemy, putting a Soros-funded leftist agenda ahead of common sense and the realities of the threat we face as a nation, placing more emphasis on protecting the rights of terrorists that want to kill us than protecting the lives of American citizens, and refusing to pull out all the stops in confronting and with overwhelming force destroying the enemy because of the delusional concepts of multilateralism and multiculturalism. In the case of the former, as Victor Davis Hanson points out in his piece, "there is little evidence of either the efficacy or morality of the vaunted 'multilateral' diplomacy. "

The time has come to fish or cut bait - we are loosing the war on terror, almost as fast as Iran is developing a nuclear bomb. And either one is going to destroy us.
