President Bush: 'U.S. at war with 'Islamic fascists'

Topics: War on Terror

CAIR is going to love this (not).

President Bush said Thursday that the uncovered British terror plot to blow up planes flying to the United States was further proof "that this nation is at war with Islamic fascists."

President Bush has repeatedly demonstrated his awareness to the fact that irregardless of the West recognizing that radical Islam is at war with the us, radical Islam is very much aware of their war against the West, and if we choose to pretend it isn't happening, we do so at our extreme peril.

However, as with the reactions of the liberal American public vs. "awake" Americans, Congressional reactions to the plot are telling of the huge differences in awareness and perspective or and on the issues involved in the Islamists' war with the West. It's like the difference between "those who are blind and cannot see" and those who are "wide awake."

First, there are the "wide awakes" like Republican Sen. Susan Collins (Maine):

In a statement, Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, described the plot as "extremely sophisticated and lethal" and "the biggest terrorist threat since the attacks of September 11, 2001." Collins is the chairwoman of the Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee.
And then there are those who are blind and cannot (or will not) see:
Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nevada, said the plot shows that the Bush administration needs to rethink its Iraq policy, which the lawmaker said had diverted $300 billion from the war on terrorism and created a rallying cry among terrorists.

Dear misinformed, blind, and naieve Harry Reed (and his fellow leftist friends),

The Islamists war against the U.S. and the West began long before Iraq. To help you awaken to the realities of the threat we face, consider having two cups of coffee and reading this brief list of all that happened before Iraq.
