Health Roundup
Topics: Health IssuesWhile researchers are working on finding a successful treatment for women who have recurrent miscarriages, the FDA is set to widen the availability of OTC morning after pill.
There is a sense of irony with these situations. On the one hand, the women behind the Barr Pharmaceutical company, the manufacturer of the morning after pill, are seeking to end millions of pregnancies with the issue of a high dose progesterone/estrogen pills; on the other hand, researchers are seeking to help women who have had recurrent miscarriages to bring their pregnancies to full term. The researchers in Austria set up a study on the effects of treating women with recurrent miscarriage by giving them a combination of low dose prednisone, aspirin, folate and progesterone in an attempt to increase the chances of having a full term healthy baby.
Go figure!
