Flash: Baghdad Bob Alive And Well - Now Working For Hezbollah
Topics: Middle East News and Perspectives
Scott, at Powerline, refers to Hezbollah's pronouncements on the war, and notes that it appears to have taken a leaf from the public relations playbook of Baghdad Bob (Moham-med Saeed al-Sahaf - "there are no American forces in Iraq!), the former Iraqi Minister of Disinformation. Today's Haaretz reports that "Hezbollah claims of combat success become less and less believable."
Haaretz also carries a long story on yeserday's raid on Baalbek. Illustrating the thesis in the Haaretz story on Hezbollah's public relations, Hezbollah claimed the Israeli commandos conducting the raid were trapped inside the hospital in Baalbek. The commandos nevertheless apparently returned to Israel unharmed with five prisoners. The brief Jerusalem Post story on the raid quotes Prime Minister Olmert as saying that "tasty fishes" were among those seized. For your entertainment, peruse through the Collected Quotations of "Baghdad Bob," Moham-med Saeed al-Sahaf: The Iraqi Minister of DisInformation. You'll have little trouble relating Baghdad Bob's comments to the comments coming out of Hezbollah's "Ministry of Disinformation," and its cheerleaders.
