Breaking: Largest Shopping Center In United States Closed Down Under Bomb Threat (Updated)
Topics: TerrorismVia Email, Harry Owens reports that he is getting calls from friends that Ala Moana Shopping Center in Waikiki has been closed as a result of a bomb threat. The callers are actually stating that someone tried to blow up the shopping center. Ala Moana was ... maybe still is ... the largest shopping center in the United States, perhaps the world.
Unconfirmed for now - More coming as available...
Update: Honolulu police re-opened Kona Street between the Keeaumoku Street entrance to Ala Moana Center and Kona Iki street at about 10:15 a.m. after the police Specialized Services Division determined a suspicious package in the area was not a bomb.
Parts of the Ala Moana Center parking lot on the upper and lower levels fronting Kona Street were also blocked off.
The Specialized Services Division was called out at about 6:30 a.m. to X-ray the package, said police spokeswoman Michelle Yu
