North. Korea Missile Targeted Hawaii: Will The Bush Administration Respond Any Better Than The Inept Team of Albright, Carter, and Clinton?
Topics: North Korea"Looking at this (Albright and Clinton's) record, maybe Albright actually had it right. North Korea's acquisition of nuclear weapons and ever-more sophisticated ballistic missiles -- including the Taepodong-2C launched this week -- were indeed the result of five years of failed diplomacy. ... it's just that the five failed years lasted from 1994 to 1999."Following years of appeasement by the Clinton administration and now the Bush administration, a Japanese newspaper reported yesterday that North Korea's long-range missile, the Taepodong-2, which the North launched on Wednesday, targeted waters near Hawaii. Partisan Times suggests that the failed launch was apparently a failed declaration of war...
If the report that the Taepodong missile was aimed for Hawaiian waters is confirmed (North Korea denies hostile intent), then the U.S. is in the position of having to consider destroying N. Korean missiles on the launch pad before they are launched. The failure of the initial launch of the Taepodong missile doesn't mean that the beligerant and unstable regime won't eventually succeed.
BTW - if the international community ends up rewarding this behavior, we're all in very deep trouble. Remember, Iran is certainly closely watching how the UN responds to the N. Korean crisis, and so far, the UN record of success in these matters has been a 100% failure, and the effort of previous U.S. administrations, particularly that of the Clinton administration under the poor advise of appeasers such as the "loud mouthed but inept" Madeline "all-knowing (she thinks)" Albright and Jimmy "support anything anti-American" Carter.
Albright and Carter are prime examples of what Philip Mella at etalking head has spoken of:
The childlike simplicity that her comment conjures reflects the epitome of the left's utter incapacity to look evil in the eye. Indeed, they don't stare down the enemy they look past it, because for them it truly doesn't exist--until it spontaneously strikes with such a barbarous ferocity that it momentarily shocks them to a fully awakened state.
However, so far, the Bush administration hasn't done any better than Clinton. As Michael Rubin of The American Enterprise Institute points out at NRO, the White House should condemn Pyongyang's provocations. But it should also recognize the process by which the Stalinist state acquired such capabilities. That the Bush administration now seeks to replicate the same process with the Islamic Republic is little more than dereliction. The future of Iran's nuclear program lies in the North Korean crystal ball.
As to the performance of the comedy team of Madeleine Albright, Carter and Clinton in dealing with North Korea, a brief review of their history reveals that Albright should be the very last human being on the planet to offer any comments on dealing with the crisis.
From Redstate we have:
Madeleine Albright is always talking "5 years". Of course, Albright is talking about the five years since they left office. Therefore, I am very happy that IBD has taken the time to reconstruct the Clinton years and our relationship with North Korea.Continue reading ...History won't be kind to Bill Clinton and I'm not talking about Monica or impeachment. As I said in January 2001, he will be remembered as the president who kicked the can forward hoping that problems would go away. Well, they didn't and we see that all over the world.
What about North Korea? What did Madeleine and her gang do about it? Check out IBD:
"Indeed, a pattern of appeasement and blindness to the growing threats around us by the Clinton administration led us directly to where we are today. So, in light of Albright's comments, this would be a good time for a little review.

The Rotten Fruit Of Appeasement - Asked by TV interviewer Larry King about North Korea's launch of seven missiles, former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright had a ready answer: It's President Bush's fault. Gee, we remember it differently. .... 'Frankly, Larry, I think the problem here is that we are watching the failure of five years' worth of American diplomacy," Albright said Wednesday night. "I'm very worried about it, and I hope very much that we do have a review of our North Korean policy." .... This is nothing new for Albright. Two weeks ago, she blamed North Korea's recent misbehavior and nuclear program on Bush's decision to go into Iraq -- a patently absurd contention. But Albright's latest comment represents an outrageous distortion of reality and history. For it was the administration of President Clinton -- and his secretary of state, Albright -- that was in fact responsible for North Korea's acquisition of nuclear weapons, and its continued defiance of international law.
North Korea: Another failure of the Clinton years!
