U.S. Soldiers Missing In Iraq

Topics: Iraq

I've been wondering when this would happen, it's the logical next step for terrorists struggling to get off the ropes and grab some much needed media attention to their activities, and apparently not the only blogger that feels this way.

(Peoples Daily Online) The U.S. military said on Saturday that a U.S. soldier was killed and two others went missing on Friday when insurgents attacked them at a traffic checkpoint south of Baghdad.

The attack occurred at 7:55 p.m. (1555 GMT) at a traffic checkpoint manned by U.S. soldiers near the town of Yousifiyah, about 20 km south of Baghdad, the U.S. military said in a statement.

"After hearing small arms fire and explosions in the vicinity of the checkpoint, a quick reaction force responded to the scene," the statement said.

One U.S. soldier was killed and two others went missing, the statement said, adding that coalition forces were searching for the missing soldiers in the area.

The death toll of U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq since the invasion in March 2003 hit 2,500, the U.S. Department of Defense said.

These two soldiers have been targeted by the terrorists, but the real target of the terrorists is the liberal anti-iraq media and the U.S. Left.

The terrorists' ONLY chance of success is to get the U.S. public to back away from supporting a war that stands between the terrorists establishing a springboard for the spread of Islamofascism and terrorism throughout the world, and a large first step by the West in a long battle ahead that will ultimately lead to the defeat of terrorism in the world.
