Babbin devotes a chapter to NATO, an organization for which there is hope as it is an alliance of democratic states that share the same values and objectives, especially with the influx of members from New Europe. He also suggests that a new international organization be formed, one that only allows as members those states that permit freedom of religion and the press and where there is respect for the rule of law.

A cursory look at the news events of the last few years will substantiate the author's points. The UN has very little to complain about and much to account for and change. They should "hold their collective tongue" and instead, act to overcome the issues behind the complaints - openly and quickly. But we know that's not going to happen, the complaints will continue, and the reputation and usefullness of the UN will continue to deteriate.

In the end we'll all sit back and say, "good riddance".
