Iraq's PM Maliki To Terrorists: Operation 'Going Forward Together To Show 'No Mercy'
Topics: IraqIt's begining to look as though Bush may have found an Iraqi partner in the war against terrorism in Iraq, and a man to drag Iraq kicking and screaming into a functional democracy. Iraq's new prime minister appears to be one tough hombre and seems determined to have the terrorists calling for "no mas" no "mas":
Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki yesterday announced the start of a massive security campaign in Baghdad, saying security forces would show "no mercy" in their effort to wipe out insurgent strongholds and defang militias. If this guy Maliki can clean up Baghdad and rid it of the insurgents and their foreign terrorist friends, he just might stand a chance to pull all of Iraq into the fold.
Some 75,000 troops -- Iraqi and American -- will carry out the operation code-named "Going Forward Together," said Gen. Abdelaziz Mohammed Jassem, Iraq's combined-forces operations chief. He said the campaign would start "very, very soon," and sources in Baghdad said they expected the crackdown to begin immediately.
While he's on a mission to clean up Baghdad, why not start with the radical anti-U.S. cleric Muqtada al-Sadr, a shi'ite, along with the rest of the militias?
