Iran rejects 'preconditions' to nuclear talks

Topics:

Yesterday we heard that Ahmadinejad was "weighing the U.S. proposal" and my immediate response was, "Why am I not surprised":

Translated from 'Iranianese' to plain English, Ahmadinejad's statement that he is "studying the proposal" means nothing more than "Excuse us while we stall for more time to accelerate our ongoing nuclear development program that the entire world knows is large and growing, and by the way, we know you 'suckas' are dumb enough and gullible enough to ignore our record of concealment and deceit that goes back at least 20 years."
And what do we hear today? As predicted, more of the same:
TEHRAN, June 18, 2006 (AFP) - Iran said Sunday it would not accept any "preconditions" for fresh international talks over its disputed nuclear programme, implicitly rejecting demands that the Islamic republic suspend sensitive uranium enrichment work.

"Dialogue must be without preconditions, because any precondition limits the framework of the dialogue and does not allow results to be achieved," foreign ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi told reporters.

"The Islamic republic of Iran will not give up its rights. One cannot fix preconditions to hold negotiations without taking into account the position of the other party," he added.

So, we'll try again to help the Bush administration get the message:
"Translated from 'Iranianese' to plain English, Ahmadinejad's statement that he is "studying the proposal" means nothing more than "Excuse us while we stall for more time to accelerate our ongoing nuclear development program that the entire world knows is large and growing, and by the way, we know you 'suckas' are dumb enough and gullible enough to ignore our record of concealment and deceit that goes back at least 20 years."
Ad infinitum?
