House To Take 'Long Look' At Immigration Bill
Topics: Immigration and Border IssuesApparently the recent special-election victory of Rep. Brian P. Bilbray (R-Calif.), who made tough anti-immigration measures the centerpiece of his campaign, has stiffened the resistance by the House, who are now in no rush to look for a compromise on the Senate's "amnesty" bill.
Possible solution to the stalemate? I suggest that Speaker Hastert take a look at the Pence immigratin reform plan. As he and the other House members study the plan, they'll find that "just about every question is answered and every base covered."
It's not perfect, but it just may turn out to be a near-perfect compromise.
