Death By Strangulation - The Incomprehensible Death Of Tiffany Souers (Breaking Update)
Topics: Tiffany Souers
As I watched Tiffany Souers' family and friends gather for her funeral yesterday, and later, seeing her casket being carried from the Church of the Annunziata out to the awaiting hearse, I found myself overwhelmed with it all, thinking of the excruciating, gut-wrenching, and unrelenting agony that her family and friends are now going through, of the incomprehensible murder of a beautiful young human being whose life had already began to make it's mark through her kindness, charity of purpose and sense of giving to others, and of my own wife and children, of how I kiss them goodbye and send them off to school or out the door - never giving a second thought to the fact that I may never see them again because of the brutal thoughtless act of one of the many dregs of our society - one of the many products of a generation born into a society void of self identity, with little regard for a higher power, of faith, of values, and even much less for the beautiful sanctity and preciousness of a human life, a sad fact not unexpected in a society that places such little value on babies, the old, and the infirmed, that kllling them out of convenience often requires little more than an economic incentive. And now the life of Tiffany Souers, the girl everyone who knew well knew that she would not pass through this world without making a difference, has been tragically ended by her killer.
Yet, as for Tiffany's life making a difference, it already has, from helping homeless families at St. Patrick's homeless shelter in downtown St. Louis - the summer after her 8th grade of school, to wheeling elderly people to mass on Sundays, counseling suicidal teenagers in crisis. She even had plans to organize charity fundraisers to get sports equipment to poor kids in South Carolina during this summer - a summer now taken away from her. Tiffany Souers has made a difference, and she is going to be remembered by everyone that knew her and by those who now know of her - myself for one. I'm going to make damned sure I remember the feeling of seeing that beautiful child being carried to the hearse in a casket, everytime my children walk out the door.
I'm going to remember that the body of this beautiful human being who had her whole life in front of her, is now lying in the cold ground. I'm also going to remember that this should not be, it's not right, it's not fair, and damn it the bastard that murdered her needs to be brought to justice.
Breaking Update: as I write this, news that "Police Nab Alleged Rapist in Tiffany Souers' Apartment Complex" has just come out. More to come...
... though it's unlikely at this point that David Kudika, Jr., a 25-year-old who lives in the same apartment complex, is also the suspect police are seeking in Tiffany's murder. I've got to believe that if he is, he's incredibly stupid to commit multiple crimes in the same apartment complex, and stick around for the police to nab him at the same location.
Meanwhile, police are searching an area where a passerby found Tiffany's ID.
