Abu Musab al-Zarqawi Killed In Air Raid North Of Baghdad
Topics: IraqToday is A HUGE DAY for the leaders of Iraq - a major turning point in the war in Iraq has just been made!!! The #1 active terrorist in the world (excluding Iran's Ahmadinejad), is dead, and the Iraqis are literally dancing in the streets.
Now coming out on all the airways and certain to be covered all day long on cable media, and in what is nothing short of a major step in the global war on terror, the murderous Islamothug Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the leader al-Qaida's in Iraq who has led the bloody campaign of suicide bombings and kidnappings throughout Iraq, has been killed in an air strike:
Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, al-Qaida's leader in Iraq who led a bloody campaign of suicide bombings and kidnappings, has been killed in an air strike, U.S. and Iraqi officials said Thursday, adding his identity was confirmed by fingerprints and a first-hand look at his face. It was a major victory in the U.S.-led war in Iraq and the broader war on terror.Zarqawi, whose real name was Ahmed Fadhil Nazzar Khalaylah, an identity that he abandoned several years ago when he renamed himself after his home town, Zarqa, an industrial city 17 miles northeast of Amman, was a member of the Bani Hassan tribe who has disclaimed him. He grew up in a family of modest means and was a troublemaker from an early age, dropping out of high school and is known to have repeatedly been involved in drunken brawls. This is the man that became the most brutal killer in Iraq - personally beheading people and leading terrorists were to become his big claims to fame. Not exactly a legacy NORMAL human beings aspire to obtain - but of course, Zarqawi and his ilk are miles short of normal.Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki said al-Zarqawi was killed along with seven aides Wednesday evening in a in a remote area 50 kilometers (30 miles) northeast of Baghdad, in the volatile province of Diyala, just east of the provincial capital of Baqouba, al-Maliki said.
Loud applause broke out as al-Maliki, flanked by U.S. Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad and U.S. Gen. George Casey, the top U.S. commander in Iraq, told reporters at a news conference that "al-Zarqawi was eliminated.''
The announcement came six days after the Jordanian-born terror leader issued an audiotape on the Internet, railing against Shiites in Iraq and saying militias are raping women and killing Sunnis and the community must fight back.
Al-Maliki said the air strike was the result of intelligence reports provided to Iraqi security forces by residents in the area, and U.S. forces acted on the information.
Now, finally, the life this killer, one of the most inhuman human beings ever to live on the planet, has been taken from him by two 500 pound bombs (apparently we wanted to make sure he was rally dead)This isn't the end of the bloodshed in Iraq, but it's the begining of better days ahead. There's still an awful lot of very evil people out there.
The Big Pharoah has comments from the Al Arabiya website. The vast majority of the comments were celebrating the death of the scumbag. Many of these comments are from Iraqis.
