What Really Happened At Haditha?
Topics: IraqUp to now I've purposefully avoided commenting on Haditha; I just haven't felt as though enough was yet known about the incident, and along with knowing from news reports that something "very bad happened" in Haditha on Nov. 19, 2005 when a Marine and 24 Iraqis died in the wake of a roadside bombing, has been the understanding that much can happen in the "fog of war" and that none of us were there in the boots of those Marines who reacted appropriately or inappropriately to an attack on them that killed their friend. We need to realize that whatever happened, the incident will be used by the enemy as propaganda and that it's a tremendous recruiting tool for more terrorist thugs to join those that planted the bomb that killed our Marine in the first place. And of course along with our enemies in Iraq, there's our home grown enemies of our own military and the War on Terror - the John Murthas, and our own media, along with other Dems and their far Left friends that have seized upon the story just as exuberantly as our Iraq enemies.
In any event, Mary Katharine Ham has spent far more time on the story then I have, and has written an excellent review of what is known and the media reactions to the story. It's a "most worthy" read that offers a perspective you won't find in the MSM.
Other coverage: Dan Riehl offers a few words on the dribble from a left-wing blogger with an apparent pathetic love of all things anti-military and a zeal for "pulling a Murtha"!!!
I'd like to see the leftwing nutcase blogger that Dan refers to, be "in the s---t himself just one time, and feel the controlled terror of a sudden firefight, the sinking gut-wrenching emotion of seeing your friend blown apart while at the same time having the guilt-ridden feeling of being glad it wasn't you laying there in pieces, and experiencing the after effects of the wierd adrenoline rush that caused you to react from training and experience along with the panic - all combined to have gotten you through the battle in the first place. Then suck it up and go on to the next firefight, and then the next, and the next - day after day, knowing that you're buddies first, and then your family and country, depend on you to keep the Islamoterrorist thugs jumping into the stewpot in Iraq instead of downtown USA.
Just one time, Mr. Left, just one time - walk the walk of a U.S. Marine in combat, and we might hear a different perspective coming from you and our other friends on the Left.
I know a little of what I speak, having walked the walk I speak of!!!
