Two Saudi Men Jump Aboard School Bus In Tampa Florida

Topics: Terrorism

busriders.jpgSo why is it that two Arab men who have been in the community since January jump aboard a school bus speaking Arabic, one in a trench coat (in mid-May in Florida?), the other in shorts, and later when confronted by police have 3 different versions of a story as to why they boarded the bus, and initially tell deputies they are from Morocco, but later admitted to being from Saudi Arabia? Doesn't that sound just a little Beslanish?

Of course as one would expect, the local Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), told the St. Petersburg Times the incident sounded like a "cultural mixup": "Obviously, if they had recently arrived here and they are from Saudi Arabia, they may not be familiar with American rules and laws," they might have thought it was some kind of public transportation."

However, there's little chance that such could be the case. These guys have been enrolled at the English Language Institute at USF since January, they're not newbies to the community - and there are numerous Arab-speaking individuals in the community who know the "local ropes" and what to do and not do, and the bus boarders would have had plenty of exposure to such individuals.

As reported by World Net Daily:

Local and federal authorities are trying to determine the real reason two Saudi men jumped aboard a local school bus on Friday, alarming students as well as education officials.

Mana Saleh Almanajam, 23, and Shaker Mohsen Alsidran, 20, were immediately taken into custody when the bus arrived at Wharton High School, and they are being charged with trespassing on school property.

"Both defendants gave several versions of the reason they took a school bus to a high school," Hillsborough County sheriff's spokesman J.D. Callaway told the Tampa Tribune, noting the pair seemed cagey and evasive as they answered questions. "They said they wanted to go to Wharton to look around, and then they said they wanted to go there to have some fun, and then they said they wanted to enroll in the English classes there."

"We're not sure if this was a situation of them just being new to this country, or if they were confused or what it was," he continued. "We were unsure as to exactly what the final reason was, but it did cause great concern for the students on the bus and for us. One of the guys was wearing shorts with a black trench coat."

During their time on the bus, the men were reportedly speaking in Arabic, making funny sounds and laughing.

The FBI was notified, along with the sheriff's Homeland Security Division, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement's Regional Domestic Security Task Force, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

"It sounds like a dry run for a Beslan type of terror attack in the U.S.," said one concerned WND reader. "I don't believe these guys."

My first thoughts were exactly those expressed by the WND reader. Could this be just that - a dry run for a Beslan type of terror attack?

The men surely didn't just "need a ride", and going to Wharton to "look around or have some fun" can't even be in the running of possibilities. As for looking for other options to learn English in an "easier" class - that can't be the case since as students at the University of South Florida they have every possible opportunity for counsel as to what options are and are not open to them.

As for Wharton High School, it's on North Bruce B. Downs Blvd. in an area of town that is north of and not far from the University of South Florida. Just minutes down the road from Wharton toward the university is a Starbucks, where on any given day or night you will find a large number of Arab-speaking men - a fact well known to the entire Arab community in the area. There is no way whatsoever two Arab men that have been here since January would not have known where they would find other Arab speaking men knowledgeable of the laws, local cultural sensitivities, and where someone new to the area could go in their community to get information.

Although this could all be just a joke or a mistake on someone's part, something seems to smell to high heaven here. Most Muslims in the area hang out at common locations in the community, and ANYONE new to the area knows where the community hangs out and how to find out the local "rules of the road" (and boarding a school bus would be known by all the Muslims in the area as definate no-no.

I have many Muslim friends from Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Aghanistan in the area, and they wouldn't even think about doing something as simple as going around and taking pictures of offices without "company" - they simply want to avoid the appearance of impropriety. These are all intelligent and hard working people, to even think of boarding a school bus "for a ride" or any other reason wouldn't even enter their minds.

The idea of boarding a school bus would be so far removed from their consideration - it just wouldn't happen. For someone even suggest such a thing would bring about immediate criticism and alarm.

These two guys weren't "beamed" to Tampa by accident, they had to be in touch with members of the local Arab community, and these guys knew exactly what they were doing - whatever it was that they had up their sleeve!

And I know you're going to ask, and the answer is I have no damned idea: What could possibly have been going on in the bus driver's mind when he or she actually drove the guys with the kids on the bus all the way to Wharton High School (from Fletcher and 42nd St. where they were picked up - at least a fifteen minute ride), instead of having everyone quickly exit the bus the second these nuts boarded it!
