This is getting interesting
Topics: TechnologyGoogle goes head-to-head with the evil empire:
In a move clearly targeted at breaking Microsoft's dominance of the desktop, Google and Dell have reportedly sealed a deal worth up to US$1 billion for the leading PC maker. According to a Wall Street Journal report, Dell, which is going through a rough patch, will receive up to $1 billion from Google to pre-install Google desktop on its PCs, which would also ship with a default browser home page sponsored by both companies. It will be quite interesting to see whether or not the full Google pack will be installed as well, since this would give the search engine giant enough additional influence to make Microsoft extremely uncomfortable (e.g., Mozilla Firefox, Picasa photo organizer, etc).
