The Media's Agenda: AP Selectively Reports Osama's Message
Topics: TerrorismFirst the AP runs a story on the Osama bin Laden tape that included an admission implicating two Gitmo detainees in the 9/11 attack, which of course is quite "newsworthy" and supports keeping the Gitmo detainees right where they are - in Gitmo.
Later, the AP later runs "excerpts" of the Bin Laden tape, with Bin Laden's admission implicating the Gitmo detainees "curiously unreported", in spite of the fact that it would have a significant impact on the debate over the fate of Gitmo detainees.
Captain Ed has what the AP ran in the original piece by Maamoun Youssef, which he has also cached...
Of interest is the AP's strategic placement of ellipses at the end of the quote in the later article, which cuts off Osama before he admits that Gitmo holds two accessories to the 9/11 attacks.
The mass media continues to disappoint us - they're not even good at being sneaky anymore, and for some reason or another just can't get it through their skinny little elitest brains that their going to get caught in their misrepresentations and omissions by the savvy bloggers on the right.
