Immigration And The Slide Toward Socialism

Topics: Immigration and Border Issues

A-m-n-e-s-t-y: the act of an authority (as a government) by which pardon is granted to a large group of individuals.

We just can't say enough about the Senate's amnesty gift to millions of illegal aliens, and of course our president who supports it. We've already spoken to the issue today, here and here.

Dan Riehl also wades in on the disaster, offering that now more than ever, our Senate, having become a professional class of elitist politicians, relatively unaccomplished in the non-political world, yet thinking it knows everything best, is attempting to use the Immigration Bill to gain more and more control of our lives and our economic well being.

In other words, thanks to our Senate, we're no longer inching toward socialism, we're now facing a rapidly moving a downward spiral.

And just in case you haven't caught the drift of what an outrage the Senate's immigration bill is, Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) lists the top ten flaws with amnesty and immigration reform bill.

To go even further on the issue, Rep. J.D. Hayworth points out, among other equally moronic awards to the alien lawbreakers, courtesy of the U.S. Senate, that the only real punishment on the entire list is the fine, and even that it is a slap in the face to legal American citizens and every single potential immigrant going through our system legally:

Know what it is? A measly $2,000 payable in two $1,000 installments. When you consider what illegals get for their two grand, it's the deal of a lifetime.

The penalty for using a phony Social Security card is a fine of up to $250,000 and/or five years in jail. But Bush wants illegals to get pardoned for that serious crime and all their other immigration-related crimes. In the president's plan, illegals get to have what they earned illegally counted toward Social Security benefits for themselves and their survivors. They get to send their children to American schools and bring their family into the country. They get access to public services, including the best health care in the world, and they get to enter and leave the country freely. In other words, they get to do everything a regular citizen can do except vote and serve on a jury.

To top it off, illegals are allowed not only join the citizenship queue, but also to legally live and work here while they wait. This privilege is worth thousands upon thousands of dollars for any individual illegal. And for the child of an illegal who is born in the United States and thus becomes an automatic citizen during this time, the privilege is almost priceless: John O'Sullivan writes that the going rate for a green card on the world market is $100,000.

And if you are already sufficiently convinced that you, as an American citizen, as well as our entire nation, is getting screwed, (pardon my French but there's just no other word to describe it), you certainly know for sure that if Vincente Fox is for it, it's DEFINATELY bad for America. Well, he's for it - big time!

Mexican President Vicente Fox praised the U.S. Senate for passing an immigration bill while some California lawmakers used his visit to the state to speak out against illegal immigration.

Fox called the Senate's landmark vote Thursday on immigration policy a "monumental step forward" that marks a historic moment in the relationship between Mexico and the United States.

After giving a speech to a joint session of the California Legislature and meeting with Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, Fox was set to wind up his U.S. trip on Friday with meetings with California business leaders and the mayor of Los Angeles.

Fox's visit has stirred passions among the fiercest partisans in the immigration debate.

"Stirring the passions among the fiercest partisans in the immigration debate" is putting it mildly, how about infuriating the overwhelming majority of American citizens, you know, us folks that will be voting out the Senators that voted for the bill. Bloggers have long memories, and we'll be here to make sure you don't forget who they are!!!
