Hitchens: Muhammad 'Not A Prophet' - He's An 'Epileptic Plagiarist'

Topics: War on Terror

Last night, Christopher Hitchens, an editor for Vanity Fair and self-described atheist, issued a sharply critical rebuke of the Muslim prophet Muhammad, before an older audience at the Geology Corner auditorium of Stanford University.

With statements like "Of course, he's not a prophet, he's an epileptic plagiarist", and that the Quran is full of "evil fairy tales" that were "unimaginably recycled", and a "boring plagiarism of the worst parts of Christianity and Judaism," he managed in an hour and a half diatribe to offer far more criticism and rebuke of Islam than could possibly be offered in dozens of satiric cartoons like those in Denmark that sparked the world-wide Muslim riots.

I think Hitchens should avoid public places for a while - it could be hazardous to his health - and others around him. As the world has learned, there are people "out there" that don't take too kindly to criticism of their religion. Tolerance is only within the realm of their own distorted view of reality, and beheading is their means for rectifying what they percieve as injustice or blasphemy to "their" prophet. On the other hand, Hitchens has nailed what many will find agreement with.
