U.S. Military Secrets for Sale at Afghan Bazaar

Topics: War on Terror

So "cleaning ladies" routinely walk right out of a U.S. base with flash drives chock full of secret information?

Just 200 yards from the maingate of a U.S. military base in Afghanistan, stolen computer drives containing classified military assessments of enemy targets, names of corrupt Afghan officials and descriptions of American defenses are on sale in the local bazaar:

.....Afghan cleaners, garbage collectors and other workers from the base arrive each day offering purloined goods, including knives, watches, refrigerators, packets of Viagra and flash memory drives taken from military laptops. The drives, smaller than a pack of chewing gum, are sold as used equipment.
And you won't believe what's on those drives - absolutely incredible...

Where in the hell is the base commander while all of this has been going on? If this is going on at one base, imagine what could be going on everywhere else in Afghanistan and Iraq! U.S. military has secrets - what's secret under these conditions???
