Pakistani Government Protecting Danial Pearl's Killers?
Topics: Terrorism
Via Judith Apter Klinghoffer at HNN, the appeals of Daniel Pearl's murderers are apparently continuing "at a snail's pace" but the conditions under which the murderers are held enable them to remain active as jihadists and even threaten judges. It's a side of the war on terror which attracts very little Western attention, and one that we need to make more well known.
B. Raman uses the opportunity of Bush's visit to send an open letter to President Bush (an absolute must read), in which he focuses on the case of Omar Sheikh, the convicted murderer of Daniel Pearl (the HNN post incorrectly identifies Mulla Mohammed Omar as Daniel Pearl's killer). He notes the obvious contrast to the summary judgement and execution of the men convicted for an attempt on Musharraf's own life.
