French Muslims take cartoons row to Euro court

This AFP article reminds us that Muslims consider all images of the (their) prophet to be blasphemous, but as we're finding out all over the globe, Muslims not only want to censor images of Muhammad, they also want to censor criticism of Islam and Muhammad and they also want the West to forget that such criticism has ever been made throughout history.

STRASBOURG, March 9, 2006 (AFP) - The European Court of Human Rights said Thursday that it had received a request by a French Muslim body to condemn the publication of cartoons of Prophet Mohammed in French newspapers.

The Regional Council for the Muslim Religion (CRCM) in the Champagne Ardenne region said in a statement that the publication of the controversial cartoons in French newspapers constituted a discrimination between Muslims and non-Muslims contrary to the European Convention of Human Rights.

"Muslims from Champagne Ardenne are touched like the rest of Muslims in the world, injured in their faith and their dignity," said the CRCM, that filed the complaint on February 13.

"Injured in their faith and their dignity"? Are they truly that insecure about their faith and their dignity? Perhaps they should change their faith - to Judism, or Christianity. We Christians and Jews have learned to endure far more than a bunch of silly cartoons!

Yes, you're by now thinking the same thing I am, it's yet another example of a mentality that belongs to the Middle Ages, not that of the 21st century, an example of the clash between civilization and backwardness, between the civilized and the primitive, between barbarity and rationality. It is a clash between freedom and oppression, between democracy and dictatorship. It is a clash between human rights, on the one hand, and the violation of these rights, on other hand.

And it is most certainly a clash between the Islamists, and the rest of us, both Muslim and non-Muslim. And appeasing these animals is only going to cause us to lose our freedom and our lives.
