Anti-war Protests Sputter
Topics: IraqThe AP is giving it their best shot to make the anti-war protests appear and sound like a big pop, but it's apparent that the anti-war protests did little more than fizzle and sputter.
Some would say that to describe current anti-war protest as a reaction to the invasion of Iraq or an anti-Bush phenomenon is to miss the point. A closer look at the protestors and their associations reveals a pedigree going back at least to the Vietnam era and beyond to the "progressive" and protest politics of earlier decades. The leaders of the "anti-war" movement today are leftists in ideology, almost all oppose capitalism and believe in socialism, and many are Communists. At root, they are more anti-American than anti-war.
Whenever I hear about the anti-war movement I recall what David Horowitz said back in 2003 about militant Islam on American campuses, which is very representative of the anti-war crowd around the globe:
On campuses across this country, embedded in the leadership of every radical "anti-war" protest group, are organizations that promote the culture of Islamic terrorism and its anti-Western, anti-Israeli and anti-American agendas. One that will serve as an example for the others is the radical Muslim Student Association (MSA). The Muslim Student Association is an organization financed by the Saudis and also by student funds at every university where it operates. The ideas and enthusiasms that it promotes among impressionable college students should give every American cause for concern. The MSA is only one of many such organizations that serve as the core of the anti-war movement, and we fail as a free-thinking people when we ignore the roots of the anti-war commentary and those who push it's agenda. It does little more than to provide Islamists (Islamic fundamentalists) with propaganda.
You'll find more background on the culprits behind the so-called peace movement in this 2002 WorldNetDaily piece. Nothing has changed since then, the same cast of characters are still pushing a "give in to sharia and the terrorists" agenda.
