About That Civil War
Topics: IraqRalph Peters writes that he's been trying to find the NYT's civil war all week, and trying hard as he can, he just can't find one. That might have something to do with the fact that he is IN Iraq AND has been riding around with the U.S. Army, looking at things first-hand, "a technique to which The New York Times wouldn't stoop in such an hour of crisis."
Does this mean that a threat of civil war doesn't exist? Certainly not, but Iraqis that voted under the threat of death want a resolution to a crisis instigated and perpetuated by outsiders, and are looking to have a unity government in place of what they've seen under Prime Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari. If that occurs, look to see things gradually improve. If it doesn't, look to see things slide in the wrong direction.
