You Knew It Was Coming - The Muhammad Comic Book

Topics: Understanding Islam

Believe it or not ...

... there really is an Islamic comic book - and if the imams didn't like the Danish cartoons, they'll go beserk over this...

Note to imams: Please direct all fatwahs to "The Islam Commentaries" at "Islamcomicbook.com." It's all Abdullah's fault. We are but the humble messenger!

If Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu thinks that the Danish cartoons were the "Muslim 9/11", he's going to think this is the Apocolypse.

Incredibly entertaining and informative, yet perhaps a little over the top. However, we Christians, and also our Jewish friends, are accustomed to far worse, much of it from the Arab Muslim community, as well as the liberal secular media. We just take it in stride and consider the source, as our moderate Muslim friends need to learn how to do if they are to join the rest of the people of faith on the planet, as we try to learn to live together and tolerate each other - doing a hell of a lot better job than has been done up to now. The take home message here for our Muslim friends is T O L E R A N C E. If Muslim moderates could somehow do a better job of standing up against the violet types amongst them, it might go a long way toward a begining in the right direction. As for the secular media, they are a lost cause; all of us need to just lighten up, shake our heads in disbelief (of their ignorance and audacity), and continue practicing our faith.

For another perspective, here's Laura Mansfield on the jihadi's reaction to the cartoons of Muhammad:

The cartoons, published first in the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten, have sparked protests and boycotts of Danish products throughout the Islamic world.

But honestly, what's the big deal here?

We've seen cartoons throughout the Muslim world demeaning everyone from Jesus Christ to world leaders such as George W. Bush and Tony Blair, but the western world barely notices.

We get insulted and then get over it. After all, freedom of the press is something we value highly in the west. But in most of the Arab world, where the masses are used to being spoon fed Pablum pre-approved by government censors, I suppose we shouldn't expect more.

I would suggest that perhaps those who are interested in protecting the "good name" of Islam consider going to the source of the problem: the terrorists who are committing atrocities in the name of their religion.

But it appears that today's Islamic leaders would rather call for a death sentence on cartoonists and writers, instead of calling for an end to the violence and terrorism by the likes of Bin Laden and company.

I guess that would be too much to ask.
