Photos From The Muslim Mass Demonstration In NYC

Topics: Understanding Islam

These images are from the Muslim mass demonstration on February 17, 2006 in front of the Danish Consulate near the United Nations in New York.

The Muslim man's sign here says it all: "The World is divided into Two Camps" - he's just a little confused as to what "evil" is ... (You will find much more on the Islamic Thinkers Society here, and they are not very nice people).

In the image below, I have no idea what these women are saying, doing, or even what their signs say (except, of course, the few in English). One would think that if you are really here to take part in the American dream and truly become an American, learning the English language and dressing like the rest of the country might help one "a-s-s-i-m-i-l-a-t-e" into American society.

However, apparently there are certain people of a particular religion that have no intention whatsoever of doing so, and as Miranda Devine wrote in The Sydney Morning Herald, "As we've also witnessed, whenever there's a difference between their approach and (the West's) approach, they want (the West) to become like them and not vice versa".

According to narrative at the flickr collection source of these images, in the above image the girls from Al Noor School in Brooklyn were doing a lot of chanting. The chants were led by a man, who stood nearby (you can see all 12 photos of the set here).

Now to lighten things up a bit, here's some more of those "blasphemous line drawings" (No, this one wasn't included in the Muslim demonstration):

Readers might recall that non-Muslim tolerance of Muslims in Britain ran amuck when novelty pig calendars and toys were banned in a United Kingdom council office in case they offended the Muslim staff.
