Muslim Canadian Congress On Cartoons: 'Proven: Muslims ARE A Violent People'

Topics: Understanding Islam

Canadian Muslims said Thursday that cartoons depicting the Prophet Mohammed as a terrorist are deeply offensive, but so is the violent reaction to the drawings from Islamic extremists.

Today's Globe & Mail via Lost Budgie:

"The protests in the Middle East have proven that the cartoonist was right," said Tarek Fatah, a director of the Muslim Canadian Congress.

"It's falling straight into that trap of being depicted as a violent people and proving the point that, yes, we are."

I've been waiting for this, I sensed that it had to come sooner or later, that if moderate Muslims followed the pattern that we've seen in their much delayed, but finally begining to emerge, reaction to terrorism in the name of Islam, we'd eventually see them begin to recognize that they must overcome their fears of the radicals and the crazies that we've all been seeing reported in the news reports (but not in our moonbat American press), and begin to speak out against the (up to now) world wide raging Muslim reaction to the Danish cartoons.

It's just a begining, not yet a clarion call, but it is welcomed. Finally some sanity coming out of the Muslim community.

From Norway, there's another hint of there being adults in the Muslim community:

The umbrella organization for Islamic groups in Norway, (Islamsk Råd Norge, IRN), said Friday it would help Norwegian officials calm down a diplomatic crisis over offensive cartoons by contacting Muslim leaders and scholars and Arab media.
A slow start, yes, but a begining none the less.
