HarryTho 2/10 Natalee Holloway CommentaryTopics: Natalee Holloway
After eight months of researching and analyzing the case of Natalee Holloway's disappearance, I thought it would be about to time to recap what we have so far. First, let us revisit Natalee Holloway herself.
From what I can decipher, Natalee was a good student who participated in after school activities. There exists a possibility that she may have been on medication; such as Ritalin, for Asperger Syndrome (11/1 editorial), also known as AS. Ritalin acts as an upper in the drug jargon and has been known to be used for recreation by teenagers.
In the boyfriend department, from all accounts, Natalee had no current boyfriends. In junior high school, Sean McVae chummed with her. Boys, selected by Beth Twitty, accompanied her to social events. And, it seems, it was never the same young man. While in Aruba, there seems to be some agreement that she was involved with a blue-eyed Dutch boy. Some say he was Coast Guardsman while others claim he was a Royal Dutch Marine. Whichever happens to be the case, it appears that he returned to Curacao on Natalee's second or third day on Aruba. The only other fellow, openly acknowledged, to have been around Natalee was the suspect: Joran van der Sloot. I believe that it would be safe to conclude that for whatever reason Natalee Holloway eschewed boys in the Kingdom of Mountain Brook, however, welcomed them while in Aruba.
We must also look at Natalee Holloway's close friends. One, Frances Byrd, stated that Natalee was back at the Holiday Inn after leaving Carlos & Charlie's with Joran van der Sloot and the Kalpoe brothers. Was she lying? Is that why Joran van der Sloot spent three months in Kia Prison? To me, the media and the authorities seemed content with Frances Byrd's other representations. Why ignore her statement about the Holiday Inn? The other girls I do not know. Virginia Page was with Natalee at Carlos & Charlie's. Yet, I never once heard any mention of a contradiction about statements made by Joran van der Sloot and the Kalpoe brothers concerning Natalee's behavior while in Carlos & Charlie's. Virginia just said that Natalee was in another part of Carlos & Charlie's. From what I gathered about the size of Carlos & Charlie's restaurant is that it was not that capacious. And, Virginia claims to not have seen Natalee for over an hour. What are we to make of this? I suspect that the appraisal of Natalee's behavior by Joran van der Sloot and the Kalpoe brothers was accurate. Furthermore, Frances Byrd would only comment that she saw Natalee back at the Holiday Inn. I suspect that the appraisal of Natalee's condition back at the Holiday Inn was only slightly improved from when she took a joy ride with Joran van der Sloot and the Kalpoe brothers. The silence from Frances Byrd and Virginia Page speaks volumes.
If Natalee did return to the Holiday Inn, then we have to consider the number of declarations indicating Natalee was swimming in the ocean around 3:00 AM. Couple the swimming at night with what can only be assumed to be an intoxicated state of consciousness with the Caribbean currents discussed in our editorial of 11 January 2006, we have an outstanding opportunity for the entrainment of Natalee Holloway into the Caribbean Sea in just matter of a few minutes.
Entrainment, to me, is the most plausible explanation as to why Natalee Holloway's body has not been found, given the declarations on record with the Aruban authorities. It was an accident. No one can be held at fault. Any Kingdom of Mountain Brook teenager who would have attempted to save her would have perished, as well. I suspect that some of the Kingdom of Mountain Brook teens are cognizant that Natalee fell victim in just such a manner and are too afraid and ashamed to come forward.
As for all the publicity, as I have explored, News Corp. exploited Natalee's disappearance in the same manner that a skier exploits the slopes, freshly covered with snow, or a surfer exploits the winter swells.
Have a good weekend ... see you all on Monday evening! With Aloha,
