Dems Keep Trying To Market 'Dog Burgers' To The American Public

nuclear%20attack-politics.jpegLee Haris writes at TCS Daily that the Democratic Party has been searching for a way of attacking George Bush that they hope will fire up public indignation and spark popular outrage against the president. He notes that It is one thing for hardcore Democrats, amongst themselves, to deride and deplore the President; it is quite another to grab hold of an issue that will galvanize the general population into vehement opposition to the President.

While "leading lights" of the Democratic Party like Al Gore, John Kerry, and Hillary Clinton have tried to make as much hay as possible with the "domestic surveillance" or "spying" issue as a vehicle to achieve their goal of arousing populist ire against President Bush, it's becoming increasingly clear - "that dog won't hunt."

It may be argued that the team of Gore, Kerry, and Clinton simply lack the marketing genius to convince Americans to become outraged over the charge of domestic spying -- and a good case could be made that Gore and Kerry are singularly devoid of such marketing skills. But my own feeling is that, in this case, it is the product itself that presents the biggest challenge to its own marketability, akin to the challenge posed by the problem of marketing dog-burgers. The public doesn't have the appetite for it, and no political marketing blitz can alter this fact.

... it should be obvious that no amount of market savvy could save a company that tried to convince the American public to eat dog-burgers, not even if there were billboards everywhere depicting adorable cats scrawling the words "EAT DOGS FOR A MORE PURR-FECT WORLD."

Although Harris' piece continues to eloquently make the case that besides having a less-than-perfect "marketing team" (I couldn't think of a worse combination of obvious moonbats), a significant problem for the Dems is that selling the NSA surveillance issue to the American public as being bad for their health (freedom, sanity, or whatever), they are essentially trying to sell Americans dog burgers - and we ain't buyin it! Period!

The Dems need a product that the public is willing to buy, and better dogs to sell it. Trying to sell us the NSA surveillance issue as a scandal - is just dog burger. The public simply isn't interested in our nation failing to stop a terrorist nuclear attack on our soil.
