Danish cartoonists fear for their lives

Topics: Understanding Islam

More Muslims have been killed by Muslims, more Muslims continue to be victimized by Muslims, and more Muslims are in danger of dying at the hands of Muslims than non-Muslims. This is a subject that demands a wider examination and attention than has been given by Muslims and non-Muslims alike. - Salim Mansur

Those twelve Danish cartoonists whose cartoons are the subject of so much rage from the Muslim world have gone into hiding under round-the-clock protection, fearing for their lives.

Like we've said in a previous post - all this over 12 cartoons?

Also from a previous post - Caroline Glick absolutely nails it on the Muslim furor over the cartoons, and her piece in the JP needs worldwide recognition:

(...) At its base, the Muslim furor over the cartoons is part and parcel of their culture war against the West. The Muslims pushing the issue believe that non-Muslims ought to behave obsequiously towards all things Islamic, while the Muslims are free to demonize Jews as monkeys and pigs and accuse Christians of being idolaters. According to the rules of their culture war, if Western societies refuse to behave in accordance with their dictates, the Muslims have the right and duty to attack them.

(...) That is, the culture war that is being waged by the Arabs and Muslims in response to the Danish cartoons is an assault on the West's right to live and govern in accordance with its values. It is an assault on the notions of freedom and self-determination themselves.

As before, this bears repeating again, because the West needs to realize what the Islamists are really up to in perpetuating the Muslim rage against the cartoons. The culture war that is being waged by the Arabs and Muslims in response to the Danish cartoons is an assault on the West's right to live and govern in accordance with its values. It is an assault on the notions of freedom and self-determination themselves.

Make sure you get it, then help to make sure everyone you know gets it. Enough is enough, it's time for Muslims to join the 21st century, and learn to tolerate and live peacefully with those of us who do not share their beliefs. Yes, we are indeed in a cultural war, a war that is pitting entire civilizations against each other. But it is not a war between religions, rather a war within Islam that has drawn the entire world in to it. More Muslims are being killed every day by other Muslims, than non-Muslims by Muslims. So non-radical Muslims and non-Muslims need each other, and the sooner we start working together, the better, and the sooner we can all get through this, and end a war on Islamofascism and terrorism that is likely to span generations if we fail to fight it, together and now!
