Cheney Blames Self

Topics: Strange but true

Breaking the silence:

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Vice President Dick Cheney took the blame on Wednesday for accidentally shooting a friend while hunting quail, saying, "I'm the guy who pulled the trigger."

Cheney, under pressure by Republicans to break his silence about the Saturday shooting, told Fox News he still thought he was correct to delay for about 18 hours reporting the wounding of Texas lawyer Harry Whittington to the public because he wanted to ensure the accuracy of what had happened.

"You can talk about all of the other conditions that existed at the time, but that's the bottom line. And it's not Harry's fault. You can't blame anybody else," Cheney said. "Ultimately, I'm the guy who pulled the trigger (and) shot my friend."

The spectacle has now shifted to the temper tantrum of the White House press corp. Beyond this, there is not much more to say except that the liberal media elite seems intent on extracting a pound of flesh following the release of the story to a local Texas paper.

Update: TheWideAwakes comments on the MSM's over-inflated sense of importance:

it is with great pleasure I introduce to you, the fourth branch of government, the media. They aren't elected, they aren't appointed, they don't exercise a lot of responsibility, and have very little desire for oversight. But they are there, as a self-designated thorn in the sides of any and every one they choose. So much so, that much there are curriculums in many colleges that can lead to degrees in Public Relations.
