Canadian Magazine Risks Hate Speech Prosecution

Topics: Understanding Islam

Captain Ed writes that Muslims around the world have demonstrated, and shown that they want to create a special class for themselves and their religion that will bar anyone from questioning its tenets and its insistence on temporal supremacy. He says that the rioters aren't protesting against all religious satirization, but only for that which involves Islam or Mohammed. This, all the while their own newspapers produce cartoons about Jews of the type pioneered by Julius Streicher(, and yet they seem unfazed by that satirization of religion.

These are good points, and fit like OJ's gloves with what I've quoted in two previous posts:

Muslims want to teach the world a lesson. The lesson is: "you must respect us or else." They want to gain the upper hand and make the non-Muslims servile and submissive. That is what the narcissist craves most. He wants dominance, respect and recognition even by instilling fear.
Captain Ed offers us another example of Muslim intolerance of criticism and satire - in Canada. All it took was a Canadian magazine to publish a few of the Muhammad cartoons to show it's readers what all the fuss was about. Now Muslim groups in Canada plan to push authorities into prosecuting the newspaper's editors for hate speech.

In December 2005 Robert Spencer wrote in Frontpage Magazine that our freedoms are imperiled internationally more today than before in recent memory, and cautioned that as the cartoon controversy was growing into an international cause célèbre, the controversy indicates the gulf between the Islamic world and the post-Christian West in matters of freedom of speech and expression. He went on to say that it may yet turn out that as the West continues to pay homage to its idols of tolerance, multiculturalism, and pluralism, it will give up those hard-won freedoms voluntarily. It's all of our job to see to it that we don't let that happen. Freedom matters, and the media hiding under their desks instead of ignoring Muslim demands for special treatment and at the same time having no problem dinigrating the religious symbols and traditions of Christians and Jews, greatly contributes to the erosion of hard earned freedoms for every single American. Throughout the entire cartoon controversy, the U.S. and Canadian media have behaved as apologists for Islam, and clearly have taken the side of helping Muslims make dhimmis of us all.
