Months before the violent Cartoon Riots, the forbidden images were published in Al Fagr, an Egyptian newspaper. Freedom for Eyptians has the scanned images from the Oct 17, 2005 edition. He also notes that the editor in chief of Al Fager wrote an article expressing his surprise that the fatal riots have been suddenly being launched after four months.

He indicates as I said in my previous post that it is politically motivated to hide more corrupt issues behind. And he is not apologizing for publishing the cartoons as the Danish newspaper did. Instead, he is proud his paper was first to publish.
I don't think it is a stretch to assert that the essence of the present controversy is not offensive cartoons. The riots are fundamentally motivated by the Islamic repulsion to the principles and culture of the Western world rather than the caricature of Mohammed.
