Attempted coup in Phllippines
Topics: International NewsGloria Arroya has shrugged off claims of an attempted coup against her government, yet news services around the world have reported that a state of emergency was declared on the eve of the anniversary of the uprising called People Power.
It is alleged that an army general has been arrested in relation to an attempted coup against Arroyo. There has been unrest in the Phillipinnes owing to a suspected fixing of the last elections in the President's favour.
