Promising news on the treatment of lung cancer

Topics: Health Issues

Oncologists in Melbourne Australia have discovered that for some lung cancer patients with incurable disease, there is a possibility that treatment with low dose radiation might help to prolong their lives.

The researchers discovered that some patients have responded to the low dose radiation therapy and instead of dying as expected, they have survived up to and over 5 years after treatment. The researchers have used a database to track the history of the lung cancer patients.

They warn that further research and testing is required before low dose radiation plus chemotherapy becomes the recommended treatment for incurable lung cancer patients.
