New Facts On Farris Hassan
Topics: TerrorismAs a follow-up to my previous post on Cal Thomas' piece discussing the terrorists that are among us and that we need to get serious about fighting jihad, is a post at Right Truth about Farris Hassan (it at least shows that things aren't always as they seem and that you never know what your neighbor may really be involved in). You remember Farris Hassan, his face was plastered all over cable news - he's the Florida teenager who went to Baghdad to "do research for a school paper." MSNBC's Rita Crosby played right into his hands like putty, helping to portray Hassan as an "idealistic rich American boy who played hooky from school to promote democracy."
Hassan's parents were born in Iraq but came to the United States about 35 years ago. His mother is a psychologist; his father is an anesthesiologist. They live in an oceanfront home. The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported that for Hassan's 16th birthday, he got a new car, a $50,000 Infiniti.First reports indicated that Farris has instigated this trip on his own, without the knowledge or assistance of his parents. But that wasn't true!
It turns out that the kids' father, Dr. Redha Hassan, a 57-year-old anesthesiologist, "does indeed have a rather shady past... ." Here's more...
Although Farris' father may not be just another anesthesiologist, and we can't take an essay as being the kids' true feelings, his essay seems harmless enough, and doesn't offer any clues as to why his family is actually here in America. If they are here just to participate in the "American dream," why the past record and connections to "shady characters" (such as a pro-Khomeini" activist) ?
Tex Macrae at UnFairWitness says that the big "story": Teen goes to Iraq all by himself, doesn't tell parents - is all b---s--t. All that's left to find out is why Dad lied so much, why Dad helped Farris go to Iraq in the first place and why Mom was so utterly in the dark about it all. And what was Dad doing in Iraq, anyway?
Farris Hassan's father claims to have been involved (apologies for using Wikpedia but couldn't find the original source) in anti-Saddam activities while living in Iraq as a teenager, including a connection to an assasination attempt. While living in Florida in 1985, he was briefly charged with creating fake Iraqi passports and military identification cards, apparently to help Iraqi dissidents. The charges were dropped and the case was reported by the Florida Sun-Sentinel.
