Muslims In Scotland Attempt To Takeover Catholic School
Topics: Understanding IslamGreg at Rymes With Right posts that an Islamic campaign group has called for a Catholic primary school in Scotland to be based on the Muslim faith (with a few interesting and entertaining images).
Interestingly, I have a close Muslim friend who went to Catholic schools throughout his childhood, along with Jews (in Morocco), is as nice a person as you'd want to meet, is very tolerant of others, loves America, and of course - he's still a Muslim. Apparently going to Catholic school didn't interfere with his faith, so what's wrong with these Islamists (in this case, Muslims with a political and social agenda) in Scotland? Last time I checked, attending Catholic school is still optional.
One complicating issue here is that according to a new opinion poll, almost half of Scots believe state-funded Catholic schools should be abolished - showing that 48% of those questioned supported scrapping denominational schools - which are almost all Catholic in Scotland. However, First Minister Jack McConnell supports the continuation of system, saying that the Catholic school system in Scotland teaches consistently high standards of discipline and achievement. Most Americans would have to admit, regardless of their faith or lack of it, Catholic schools do indeed "teach consistently high standards of discipline and achievement."
My own daughter has grown up in the Catholic school system and is in the top 1% nationally in SATs (in mathmatics, a little lower in other areas), which I attribute entirely to the education she's received in the Catholic schools. My take on the Muslim problem in Scotland is more about their religious, social and political agenda, and less about giving their children a solid education of high quality.

I also know an Iranian Muslim who went to a Catholic school. He is also quite tolerant towards others.
That being said, there is no compulsion for Muslims to go to a Catholic school. If that is what they want, then they have assented to the curriculum and they have absolutely no right to attempt to change the school curriculum for their own ends. If they do not want to accept the curriculum then they had no business sending their childrent to a Catholic school. They should put up and shut up.
