Islamic Extremists Suspected Of Bombing Christian Churches in Iraq

Topics: Iraq

The AP report tells us that car bombs exploded in quick succession Sunday near four Christian churches and the office of the Vatican envoy, killing three people and raising new concerns about "sectarian" tensions. The lead paragraph implies that Christians are somehow involved in their own murder by being involved in "sectarian tensions," when nothing could be further from the truth. Only later in the body of the article do we learn that this is not the case.

In fact, Muslims and Christians have lived together peacefully in Iraq throughout history (the Iraqi Chaldean church has apostolic roots that are 2,000 years old, with Assyrian liturgies given in the same ancient Aramaic dialect spoken by Jesus and his disciples - it is an Eastern Rite branch of the Catholic Church), and the Christians have done absolutely nothing to contribute to the violence in Iraq except to stay out of the way and attempt to avoid being murdered by the Islamic extremists who are all too happy to murder anyone that doesn't follow the Islamists' jihadi view of the world (this is not to say that there haven't been tensions between the Muslims and the Christians, because there indeed has been some serious problems - but for the most part they were instigated by Muslim extremists rather than the mainstream Muslim community).

To be absolutely clear, "More Muslims have been killed by Muslims, more Muslims continue to be victimized by Muslims, and more Muslims are in danger of dying at the hands of Muslims than by non-Muslims."

In a side note, Vinnie gets even with posts at Vince Aut Moriri and Jawa Report - showing the entire string of Mohammed cartoons that were published in Denmark.

As for those cartoons in Denmark, Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen is shocked at the way in which some Muslims are misrepresenting Denmark in the Islamic world:

"I am speechless that those people, whom we have given the right to live in Denmark and where they freely have chosen to stay, are now touring Arab countries and inciting antipathy towards Denmark and the Danish people," Rasmussen told journalists yesterday.

Rasmussen was responding to the recent visits by certain imams, Muslim intellectuals and representatives of Danish Muslim organizations who toured a number of Muslim countries to "explain" the Danish cartoon affair to local political and religious leaders and media. The affair started last September when the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten published 12 cartoons of Muhammad.

Solomonia also has a few words on the cartoon issue.

Apparently there are a lot of Muslims that really don't like being disagreed with, and have little understanding or tolerance for free speech as practiced in the Western world - they prefer to dictate to the rest of us what we can say, see, and do.
