Common Sense In Our War On Terror At The NYT ?

Topics: Political News and commentaries

Who would ever have believed that the NYT would publish an op-ed supporting common sense in regard to the NSA efforts to keep the terrorists from nuking our cities? In, "Why We Listen" :

IN the debate over whether the National Security Agency's eavesdropping violated the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, we must not lose sight of the fact that the world we entered on 9/11 will require rewriting that statute and other laws. The tiresome pas de deux between rigid civil libertarians in denial of reality and an overaggressive executive branch seemingly heedless of the law, while comforting to partisans of both groups, is not in the national interest.
It isn't much, but it's at least a begining, even though in typical NYT fashion, it slants the discussion in order to take swipes at the administration instead of acknowledging that the president has done taken the necessary and correct steps to protect us, and that most Americans significantly agree with his actions.
