Vanity Fair Takes A Look At The Natalee Holloway Case

Topics: Natalee Holloway

Dan Riehl has a post on Vanity Fair's look at the Natalee Holloway case, in which Aruba's Deputy Police Chief Breaks his silence:

Gerold Dompig, the Aruban deputy police chief in charge of the case of Natalee Holloway's disappearance, discusses the case in detail for the first time, telling Vanity Fair special correspondent Bryan Burrough that the biggest obstacles to finding Holloway have been her mother and stepfather, Beth and Jug Twitty, themselves. Dompig charges that pressure from the family sidetracked the investigation from the outset, forcing premature arrests and not allowing Aruban authorities enough time to gather evidence.

According to Dompig, Beth Twitty had contact with her daughter while she was in Aruba. Dompig tells Burrough he has taken two statements from journalist Julia Renfro, as well as a worker at the Holiday Inn, and both claim Beth Twitty told them she had gotten a call from Natalee, who said she was in love with a tall, blue-eyed Dutch teenager. "We need to know the truth," says Dompig. "Joran did not have blue eyes, so who was this boy?" Beth strenuously denies making any such statements, or having talked with Natalee while she was away.

The actual rumor behind the scenes is that Natalee met a blue-eyed Dutch Marine and was with him on the first night of the trip, prior to calling her Mother.

Dompig tells Burrough that the kids in the travel group "went far, very far, in terms of having a good time." Dompig mentions wild partying and lots of room switching, noting that the Holiday Inn had told them they were not welcome next year. According to other statements, says Dompig, Natalee drank all day, every day. There was "so much drinking that Natalee didn't show up for breakfast two mornings."

Quote from the interview in vanity Fair:Beth Twitty told Burrough, "I'm in Columbus, Ohio, on a secret mission," when he reached her on her cell phone one afternoon. "I'm putting together another strike against Aruba. I tell you, Bryan, those people down there, they'll never know what hit them. They should never have messed with me," she said.

Well, if this is true, this is saying enough for me. That woman must be brought to a psychiatric ward. This has nothing to do with finding Natalee

In any missing persons case, anywhere in this world, the police can't conduct a proper case when the parents of the missing oerson are on the news every night discussing the investigation, and trying to tell the American people that the police force is screwing up every moment of every day. The prosecution should have slapped a gag order on the Twittys after a couple of days. The Aruban police force and prosecution saw what they were doing every day and night with the media down there. I totally agree that Beth Twitty has hampered the investigation and turned the southern states into a lynch mob. I also believe that the Arubans were far too friendly towards Beth Twitty during this investigation as well and am totally surprised that they put up with her behaviour with the media for so long.

Beth Twitty has publicly stated tha her daughter was gang raped and buried. This is what she believes. Her agenda since Sept 3d has not been about finding her daughter anymore. She knows the score. Her agenda is revenge and nothing more.

A message to Beth Twitty: Beth, you fell over the fence on Sept 3d when the case went ice cold. Your agenda should now be seeking help in dealing with the disappearance of your daughter. You have to face this sonner or later and the sooner you do, the easier it will be to deal with.

I've thought for some time that Beth Twitty had another agenda other than finding her daughter. That business of DEMANDING a death certificate on June 10th, tells it all. The million dollar life insurance policy now makes more sense. I believe that Beth belives Natalee took off with some man to get away from her. The phone calls to Beth are now confirmed. Natalee told her she wasn't coming home and that is why Beth went to Jorans and demanded she come out of the house and for Joran to give her daughter back to her. This girl was 18 years old going on 19. She had the right to go anywhere in the world she wanted to go, without Hitlers sister's daughter's permission. When Beth realized Joran was not the dutch boy with blond hair and blue eyes, she changed her tatic and started going with the "they kidnapped, raped and murdered my daughter business" As far as mother Beth was concerned, Natalee was dead to her and she wanted a death certificate to collect the life insurance. This makes more sense than anything else that has been said. It explains the kids saying she came back to the hotel and the fact that her cell phone was in her room.
