U.S.Lacking In Strategy To Counter Islamic Extremism
Topics: War on Terror
I saw this article on Wednesday but forgot to get back to it; now, in light of the source of the previous post - "Right Islam vs, Wrong Islam", in which Abdurrahman Wahid wrote of "an extreme and perverse ideology in the minds of fanatics" as being what directly threatens us (specifically, Wahhabi/Salafi ideology--a minority fundamentalist religious cult fueled by petrodollars), it's a perfect companion piece.
Danielle Pletka, writing in Lebanon's The Daily Star, says that the U.S. government has yet to shape an approach to radical Islam beyond its borders. As most will recall, for some years after September 11, much of the American government was reluctant to even mention the words "radical Islam." And although there has been an evolution of late, it has barely been sufficient to address the problem at hand.
In a recent speech to the National Endowment for Democracy, President George W. Bush said: "Some call this evil Islamic radicalism; others, militant jihadism; still others, Islamo-fascism ... Some might be tempted to dismiss these goals as fanatical or extreme. Well, they are fanatical and extreme ... and they should not be dismissed. Our enemy is utterly committed."And behind the money and ideology that fuels Islamic radicalism/militant Islam/Islamo-fascism lies Saudi Arabia!
The U.S. remains oddly reluctant to fight Islamic extremism at one of its most important sources, who continue to export hatred in Korans and curricula, interfering in education systems and infiltrating mosques throughout the world, wherever and whenever possible.
