Two Women Suicide Bombers Blow Themselves Up In Baghdad Police Academy Classroom

The only problem is that they took the lives of others with them.
At least 27 Iraqi police officers and cadets were killed on Tuesday when two women suicide bombers blew themselves up in a Baghdad police academy classroom..."Two suicide bombers attacked an Iraqi police academy in east Baghdad around 12:45 pm (0945 GMT)...
According to initial reports, at least 27 police officers and academy students were killed and another 32 wounded in the attack, which comes just nine days before Iraq holds parliamentary elections...
"Two females, each wearing a suicide vest, walked into a classroom at the academy and detonated in the midst of students...
It remains unclear how the two women were able to breach heavy security in place around the academy, where roads have been sealed off by Iraqi police in a bid to prevent such bombings.
Apparently, "in largely conservative Iraq," women are not always subject to the same stringent security checks as men, since it's "deemed inappropriate for male guards to frisk women or girls." One would think that by now, the Iraqis would have already reviewed and revised that policy.
As somewhat of an afterthought, there's something both sad and ironic about the gender that gives life, taking life. And it seems that it took a while for women to convince some of the Islamic world's militant conservatives to allow them into the elite club of martyrs and suicide bombers. But now they are firmly inside and proving to be just as daring, just as determined -- and even more capable of getting past security defenses - as well evidenced by this attack and others.
