Billionaire Saudi Prince al-Walid bin Talal apparently has an investment in Fox News. During last month's street protests in France, Fox - owned by Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation in which Al-Walid himself has shares -- ran a banner saying: "Muslim riots."
So is it true that Al-Walid picked up the telephone and called Murdoch... telling him that they were not Muslim riots, but were riots out of poverty?
Well, according to The Middle East Online, "Within 30 minutes, the title was changed from Muslim riots to civil riots."
Interestingly, I found the following question posed at Crickey, an Australian News site, and dated October 31, 2005:
...will the likes of Fox News and the Murdoch tabloids curtail some of their blatant Muslim-bashing now that the world's richest Muslim is a key ally of Rupert Murdoch (?) After all, the Saudi Prince presumably buys stakes in American media companies such as News Corp and Time Warner for influence as well as financial returns. It looks like we now have the answer!
